Brian Ogilvie CFP®, CLU CH.F.C

Principal

Brian Ogilvie has been serving clients in financial planning, insurance, and wealth management  since 1980. Early in Brian’s career he had the pleasure of working with his father, David Ogilvie, for almost 30 years.

Brian’s passion is taking complex and difficult to understand financial concepts for both families and business owners, and making them more easily understood so clients can make confident decisions regarding their immediate and future needs.

Brian currently holds three designations which include the CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner). In 1993, upon completion of the CLU designation, Brian was awarded the John Tory Medal as the top graduating student from across Canada.

Brian is married to Juanita and has two adult children. He has been and continues to be very involved in his local church. He has had the opportunity to work with communities in Haiti building schools, homes and a senior’s residence in the town of Pignon.

Principal

Brian Barsness is passionate about wealth management and helping clients reach their financial goals.  His drive to serve comes from an ever-growing need for expert financial advice in a complicated world.

Brian joined Brian Ogilvie in 2021.  Previously, Brian Barsness had senior roles in a credit union and mutual fund company that focussed on Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) where he was interviewed and quoted in various media sources including the National Post and Globe & Mail.  He has over twenty-five years experience in wealth management providing information and advice to financial advisors and clients alike.

Brian earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary.  He followed up his formal education with the Canadian Securities Institute and the CFA institute.

Currently, Brian lives in the Waterloo region with his lovely wife and two children. He enjoys golfing and keeping active through walking and strength training.  He is very involved in his local church and appreciates serving people of all faiths and beliefs.

Christine Hoard

Office Administrator

Christine Hoard is the Office Administrator for Ogilvie Barsness Financial Group.  She has been a part of the team since the beginning of 2023.

Christine is the first person you will see when coming into our office and coordinates all our meetings.  She moved to the Waterloo Region in 2009 to attend school at Conestoga College for the General Business program.

Christine is the mother of two beautiful girls with her husband of seven years. She likes to spend time decorating, gardening, and having family movie nights.

Honey Kapadia

Client Service Coordinator

Honey Kapadia is the Client Service Coordinator for Brian Barsness and Brian Ogilvie at Ogilvie Barsness Financial Group. She has been part of the team since 2022.

Honey's responsibilities include client care on investments.  She moved to Canada in 2019 to attend school at Conestoga College for the International Business Management program.

Honey likes to dance and has gained a Masters of Arts in Indian classical dance and aspires to learn more about different dance forms. She likes to spend time watching movies, hanging out with friends, and working out.

Jennifer Fuss

Client Service Coordinator

Jennifer Fuss is the Client Service Coordinator for Brian Ogilvie and Brian Barsness at Ogilvie Barsness Financial Group. She has been a part of the team since March 2023.

Jennifer’s responsibilities include client care on life Insurance, living benefits, and investments.

Jennifer lives in Kitchener where she has lived all her life. She lives there with her son. She enjoys movies, sports, reading and hanging out with family and friends.
